Friday Fragments, Original and Unbranded

In direct protest to the recent weather (actual and completely off the mark forecasts), I am officially inviting spring to get its blooming arse here. This invitation is in the form of my spring wreath being hung on the front door. There is no reason why spring can't show up now.

I made this beauty a few years ago and shared the secret here on my blog. In the past, it has worked like a good luck charm, getting spring to show up. Amazingly, I just read the forecast after hanging my wreath and our forecast is for temps near the 60s this weekend. If your forecast isn't that good, maybe you should head to craft store and make one for your front door.

We are going out tonight for the second installment of SBE. That's our new way to spend one on one time with each of our kids. We missed our February date due to busy schedules and illnesses. But we are back on track and everyone is looking forward to it. My husband and I were not sure if the kids would latch on to this idea but they are the ones who have been reminding us to get back on track. Which proves that they have not gotten too old to want to spend time with us. Those days may be coming.

I heard a snide little term this week which I suspect is directed at lots of bloggers out there: "branded online content repurposers". It was in tweet criticizing unoriginal online material and those who fill their sites with other people's stuff. I won't name the tweeter ('cuz that would be doing exactly what this person is being critical of). Anyway, I like the term because you do see a lot of that on the web. But it doesn't bother me. I have no brand and I rarely repurpose others' stuff. I just repurpose my the two links above that you should click on. Ahem.

Speaking of brands, what do you think of my new header and background? I don't love it but it is at least something new. I had the same old one for a long time and was getting tired of seeing it. I know I'm no graphic artist. My husband says it is too harsh and the image doesn't relate to anything. I can't disagree.  But he still loves me and my blog. Tell me what you think if you have any thoughts. You can't hurt my feelings. Really, would love to know.

This post brought to you by Tempo and Speed, your blog of choice for original, non-branded, and sometimes hard to understand content. Choose Tempo and Speed like the other 44 followers have.

Is that content repurposing? If so, please forgive.

  1. Your niece could make you a fabulous custom header. She knows you well, and I bet she'd even do it for free : )

The weather. Yuck. We were supposed to wake up to a little something yesterday, but nada. Today is a different story. We're at a foot now, and it's still falling. I am not a fan of snow in March.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. I know she could make a fabulous header. We started that project a few months ago but it didn't get off the ground. Maybe she will see my sad header and take pity on me. I need help!

  2. I like the different lines in your header. I do find black backgrounds very tiring for a person's eyes.

That's such a neat door wreath. I hope it brings spring soon.

  3. I used to do cute clip art type of headers. I always like the 'cartoonish' effect. Some people do photos from their lives. What ever you choose, choose something that tells a story about you.
    Have a great weekend!

  4. I LOVE that spring wreath! I need to make one... Since winter was a bust for us, I'll welcome spring with a smile - so long as it doesn't fast-forward into hot and humid summer temps instead of nice spring temps. :)

Ooooh! The SBE idea is genius!

That is a great term - and there are so many of them out there, aren't there? I'm too lazy to repurpose other people's content...and I'd prefer not to have my content repurposed by anybody but me. ;)

Another Winter Storm Dud and some Funnies

  5. Haha, I like your style :-) Re-purposing? Plagiarism is bad, but it seems like everyone shares their own opinions about stuff on their own blog. I wonder what the actual point was. I think you repurposed very nicely ;-)

We also do date night with the kids. It's a great way to stay connected when you have more than one, haha.

No, no, no spring yet!! Our snow is still lovely, but we have had a freak Chinook of wind and 40 degrees. Our snow is fading away :-(

  6. Haha! I only repurpose my own posts, too. This is my first visit here via FF, and I like the header. But then, I like geometric stuff so it particularly appeals to me. I don't have kids, but I love the idea of SBE.

  7. Tempo and Speed, you have class. Glad that you are attempting to spend quality time with the kids. Enjoy your day, and I hope Spring will visit you soon.

Whaddaya think about that?
